The MLH Fellowship is an educational internship alternative, where aspiring technologists have the opportunity to collaborate on real-world software projects under the guidance of expert mentors. We truly believe that this program can change the face of technology education and hiring, helping computer science students learn the skills that they’re not getting in the classroom, but are necessary to join the workforce.
We rely on our admissions team to review the tens of thousands of applications we get each year for the MLH Fellowship. As a Senior Admissions Specialist, you'll be the first point of contact for our applicants as they start their journey. In addition to reading and reviewing applications, conducting admissions interviews, and hosting code conversations, you will assist in training new specialists, conduct interview observations, assist at team meetings, and attend regular strategy sessions
This position is contract and will require a 10 hour a week minimum commitment.

Review applications. Senior Admissions Specialists for the MLH Fellowship uphold our standards by reviewing applications from our thousands of candidates. They review written applications and code samples to ensure candidates have the passion and technical ability to succeed in the program.
Conduct interviews, evaluate code samples, and host code conversations with applicants. Specialists evaluate candidates' passion and enthusiasm for the MLH Fellowship. Our interviewers conduct phone screens with candidates to try to understand their motivation for applying to the Fellowship and to check their eligibility. Some specialists will also review applicants' code samples and determine their technical readiness for the program.
Utilize exceptional professional judgement and communication. You will be helping the MLH team decide who among our applicants will participate in the program. Our Fellowship team will rely on your feedback to make admissions decisions.
Train new Specialists. New team members need guidance on how to properly conduct application reviews, code reviews, and interviews, as well as training on how to communicate effectively with applicants. The Senior Admissions Specialist will become expert in our training materials and will ensure that new Specialists receive the guidance they need. This includes observing interviews and providing feedback.
Admissions Strategy and Logistics. Senior Admissions Specialists have the experience with our Fellowship funnel to make recommendations to senior leadership, attend and occasionally lead sections of team meetings, and take on additional projects as needed to help fellowship admissions run smoothly.
