Major League Hacking (MLH) is looking for someone exceptional to join our growing family and New York City office as a Sales Executive. As part of our Corporate Partnerships team you will be responsible for driving revenue through selling our suite of products ranging from promotions at large scale hackathons to bespoke consulting services. You’ll get to do all of this and more, while building relationships with decision makers at some of the most forward-thinking companies in existence like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Slack, Twilio, Snapchat, and many more.


MLH works with thousands of student and faculty around the world to help them build local developer communities and events that serve more than 100,000 of the most in-demand young innovators every year.


To support the enormous efforts of our local organizers, you’ll own the development of new business opportunities, meeting with companies to discover their needs and pitching them on ways to get in front of tomorrow’s technology leaders.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prospect & Generate Leads - Utilize our software tools to uncover new and interesting companies to get involved with Major League Hacking. Evangelize the brand and set up new conversations.

  • Develop Meaningful Relationships  - Our sales are highly consultative, you’ll need to work with clients to understand their specific needs and pain points in order to pitch them the best product. Sales cycles for our products can be 3-6 months, so you’ll need to develop and maintain relationships with prospects and customers to successfully make a sale.

  • Customize the Experience - You’ll be working with clients large and small. Own the details and see the contracting process through to completion. Utilize your knowledge, relationships, and abilities to create winning proposals for our corporate prospects. Close those partners and ensure they are friends for life! Our product can be customized based on a company’s unique goals. Once you’ve agreed to those goals, the budgets, and the execution, close the sale and celebrate. You’re making a difference!

Requirements

  • You’ve been there: 1-3 years experience in a quota-carrying sales role

  • Familiarity with winning: Proven experience meeting and exceeding quarterly sales targets

  • You’re flexible: Entrepreneurial spirit who excels in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

  • Concise and clear communicator: Excellent speaking, writing,  and organizational skills

  • Technically Oriented: Experience using a CRM to track all sales information (Salesforce.com preferred)

  • Details excite you: Ability to maintain a high-quality contact list for relevant sales opportunities

  • Technological Curiosity: Passionate about technology industry, developers, and community events. You sell through education and rapport building.

  • Travel ~ 10% - Ability to travel on select weekends or weeks throughout the year
