Major League Hacking (MLH) is rethinking technical education for the modern world. Now that every company is a technology company, we need faster and more effective ways to train the talent that everyone depends on. Our unique hands-on, community-driven approach has helped more than 500,000 technologists worldwide launch their careers and stay up-to-date with the latest trends. If you're passionate about technology, education, and the future of work – this the place for you!
We're looking for someone to join our team as our Logistics Manager. As part of our Events team you will be responsible for managing our logistics team and overseeing the worldwide logistics and supply chain of our 250+ events and 10,000s of thousands of hackers.
Every year, MLH helps hundreds of community leaders around the world organize events for technologists and innovators. Our full-time team provides everything these local event organizers need from the first day of planning through the successful end of the event. As our Logistics Manager, you’ll manage our team and supply chain end-to-end from production to deployment at events or distribution to hackers.
While MLH's League is all about events, this role is all about managing the supplies, backend support, and team that allow event organizers to do what they need, put simply this is a supply chain role, not an events role.
Our ideal candidate is someone excited about building process and working with large scale systems while not being afraid to roll up their sleeves and solve small problems.
Manage Logistics team. You’ll oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the other members of the Logistics team, including providing feedback on their work and distributing tasks.
Project Management - Manage a wide range of projects across teams to ensure successful role-outs of new initiatives. You’ll be able to work with stakeholders inside and outside of the company, identify tasks, set milestones, and hold others accountable.
Consistent Process Improvement - While we’re proud of the processes we have in place, changes happen to the way we fulfill events and processes often need to change to maintain our Standard Of Excellence. You’ll be responsible for identifying, making these changes and documenting them.
Process Creation - As a startup we’re always trying new things and developing new initiatives. Once they come to the Operations team, often they’ll need a process created around them. You’ll be able to create new processes for what we do.
Vendor Research, Sourcing, and Hiring - We’re nothing without our vendors. They allow us to have the scale that #MLHProvides dictates. You’ll be able to find new vendors, compare services, and hire new ones to allow us to scale further or make changes as necessary.
Inventory Management - MLH has inventory and assets stored around the globe, it’s of great import that we keep track of the inventory we have on-hand and manage its use. You’ll monitor our inventory, coordinate with stakeholders to determine appropriate levels, and ensure we maintain adequate inventories.
Logistics Work - While you’ll manage a team, which we hope grows, you will need to be ready, willing and able to do any of the tasks that your team does, like creating a shipping label or booking and approving travel.
3-5 years of experience in a similar supply chain, logistics, or project management role
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Process driven and detail oriented personality
Exceptional organizational ability
Ability to set timelines and ensure others uphold deadlines
Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully and critically evaluate project requirements
Availability to work weekends, extended hours and travel as necessary
If you’ve found yourself excited thinking about this role, even if you don’t quite meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. Hacking is all about figuring out different solutions to problems, and showing how your experience might serve as a substitute for our requirements might be your first hack with us.
We serve a diverse community and perspectives of women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, and those with backgrounds typically not served by technology help us serve our community more deeply. We strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities.
While we are presently remote due to COVID, our team has indicated a strong wish to return to in-person work and we will be adopting a hybrid schedule of three days a week in office and two days a week remote. For the right candidate we will explore remote options, but unless you have a reason that prevents it, it is greatly preferred that you work from our New York Headquarters or one of our developing offices in London, Seattle, or (pending) India.
