Community Program Manager, DEV (Full-Time)

As the DEV Community Program Manager, you will be the bridge between our sales promises and developer reality. You will take the campaigns (challenges, ads, etc) our sales team builds with partners and translate them into experiences on our native community platform. You aren't just managing timelines; you deeply understand developer culture, appreciate the nuance of technical communication, and know how to keep multiple stakeholders happy.

You will administer our native DEV (dev.to) platform and will lead the execution of our initiatives, delegating specialized tasks to a small team of hourly contractors that you manage (Community Program Coordinator and Community Support Associate). You will ultimately be held accountable for campaign and community success,  platform support, and data-driven reporting.

You aren’t just managing timelines; you are already an active member of the DEV community, deeply understand developer culture, appreciate the nuances of technical communication, and know how to keep multiple stakeholders happy.

What You’ll Do

• Campaign Execution: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of partner-sponsored campaigns and community campaigns.

• Scale Campaigns and Optimize Delivery: Drive operational efficiency to scale our campaign capacity. By ensuring flawless project execution and capturing valuable feedback loops from partners and the community, you will directly help us optimize our delivery playbook and expand our capacity, which in turn helps us serve the best experiences to our community of millions of software creators.

• Platform Administration: Serve as an expert and key administrator of the DEV platform.

• Community Moderation: Develop and grow our community moderator programs.

• Community Support: Oversee the triage and resolution of support inquiries, ensuring community members have a seamless experience participating in our platform and programs.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the ultimate connective tissue across teams. You will collaborate seamlessly with internal departments and interface with external partner stakeholders to keep projects aligned and moving forward.

• Data & Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance metrics. You’ll determine what worked, what didn’t, and deliver insightful wrap-up reports to partners.

About MLH

Major League Hacking's (MLH) mission is to empower hackers. Each year over 100,000 young technologists and innovators around the world attend MLH events and join our community. Our events provide a self-driven environment where community members learn from each other outside the confines of traditional academia. The MLH team grew out of this movement and is dedicated to making it accessible to the entire world.

Earlier this year, we acquired DEV (dev.to), an online community for software developers. Our combined ecosystem now supports millions of creators at every stage of their journey.

• We’re a team of 20 full-time people primarily based on the US East Coast (mostly NYC) with team members in Louisville, London, and India, to name a few.

• Our co-founders, Swift and Jon, were recognized for their work in education by Forbes in the 2017 30 Under 30 list.

• We work with some of the top technology brands like Google Gemini, ElevenLabs, Cloudflare, and more, to help them reach our community and get the latest and greatest tools into their hands.

• We have a group of world-class investors including General Catalyst, Alexis Ohanian (Reddit), Jeff Lawson (Twilio), and Sundance DiGiovanni (Major League Gaming).

• We are a mission driven B Corp, committed to responsibly serving the world and our community.

Who You Are

• Active in the DEV Community: You are an active, established member of the DEV community, with a history of contributing to and engaging on the platform. You understand DEV’s culture, its members, and what makes community programming feel authentic rather than overly promotional. An active DEV profile is required for this role.

• An Experienced Project Manager: You have 3+ years managing complex projects or programs, ideally within a Developer Relations or developer-adjacent environment.

• Obsessively Detailed: You notice the small things. Typos, broken links, or misaligned brand guidelines don't get past you.

• Data-Oriented: You love a good spreadsheet. You know how to pull metrics and translate raw numbers into a story of campaign success for our partners.

• AI Fluency: You believe in working smarter. You are highly capable of utilizing generative AI tools to accelerate your day-to-day workflow (such as using them to generate data queries or automate tasks) and possess a basic familiarity with developer environments like GitHub.

• Thrives in Autonomy: You are comfortable in a fast-paced, creative environment where you need to build the playbook, not just follow one.

Please Note: We expect this role to interface often with our key team members in and around New York, but are not limiting our search to a specific state or city. If you are excited about the role, and can overlap your work day significantly with US Eastern Time, we’d love to see your application!
