Marketing Manager Brand | Part Time | New York City

Major League Hacking (MLH) is looking for someone to join our growing family and New York City office as an Marketing Specialist.

As a Marketing Specialist you’ll help us speak to our audience of highly engaged student developers. You’ll be responsible for operating within existing campaigns to send regular emails and social promotion.

This is an important hire in a fast-growing startup, reporting directly to our Co-Founder / Head of Brand. Through the day-to-day management and optimization of our clients’ campaigns, you’ll play a strategic role in the success of MLH and our sponsors.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Draft and send newsletters.You’ll be responsible for curating content for our two monthly newsletters. This will involve working with our team to ensure all the information we need to send our community is regularly distributed in an engaging way.
  • Maintain social media presence. We maintain a very active social presence. You’ll be responsible for ensuring we promote events and sponsors on a regular basis.
  • Write and edit blog posts. You’ll help us write short blog posts, making important announcements, recapping events and initiatives, and highlighting hacker stories.
  • Customer support. We’re asked lots of questions via email, you’ll be responsible for monitoring and responding to our general inquiry inbox.
  • Engage with our community online. Hackers have a number of places they hang out, we’ll ask you to monitor these spots and represent MLH in these forums.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in social media marketing
  • Passionate about technology, developers, and events
  • Strong experience working across digital, social, events and other internal and external communications a plus
  • Ideal candidate has an understanding of developer communities and culture within the tech industry
